Anjelica and Joe’s story started the way a lot of great ones do...through mutual friends and a few “random” run-ins that didn’t feel so random after a while. What began as crossing paths at get togethers eventually turned into something more in 2020, with bocce ball games by a church in Millburn and plenty of time spent watching Azrah and Mako run around like crazy at the local playground. It didn’t take long for them to realize they had a lot in common. From big, lively Italian families to a shared love of sports, they quickly found not just a partner, but a built-in best friend for life. Whether it’s attending any and every sporting event or debating which teams reign supreme, what state knows hockey better (MN..duh :) ) sports have always been a big part of their story. Anjelica grew up with season tickets cheering on the Timberwolves and Yankees, while Joe was raised in a Devils household, but very much chose the right path as a lifelong Rangers fan. The Yankees vs. Mets debate is still very much alive in their house—27 World Series championships vs. 2, depending on who you ask. When Joe met Anjelica, she was just about ready to leave New Jersey behind. But somewhere along the way, he showed her a different side of it, the kind filled with summer days at the Jersey Shore, time spent on the water, and all the little moments that make it feel like home. And now, it’s exactly that: home, together. What started as chance encounters turned into something steady, fun, full of love and dog hair and they can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.

Our Story

Life through our Eyes

Set on a private island along the serene Barnegat Bay, Bonnet Island Estate offers a stunning blend of coastal charm and timeless elegance, making it the perfect setting for our unforgettable celebration. As you approach the estate, the tranquil surroundings and breathtaking views immediately captivate, setting the stage for your special day. The estate features meticulously landscaped gardens, breathtaking waterfront views, as well as beautifully restored architectural elements. The Boathouse Chapel, a reassembled post-and-beam barn from Vermont, adds a warm and intimate touch with its stone hearth and whitewashed benches. Inside, the grand porte-cochere leads to the stately Main Hall, which offers stunning views of the East Veranda and the bay beyond.

Azrah joined Anjelica’s life in 2016 (sorry, Dad IYKYK!). Anjelica had always dreamed of a husky, and Azrah quickly became part of her identity. When Anjelica met Joe, Azrah stole his heart too—so when Joe proposed, he made sure to ask his "Love Bug Baby" as well. Azrah is also a retired influencer (for now)!

Mako is the calm to his sister’s sass. A true lover boy, he’s selective about who he lets in but is fiercely devoted to his mom, Anjelica. He warmed up quickly to Joe once he realized Joe brings the fun. At home he’s affectionately known as “Bobby Orr.”

Always Michael, never Mike. Michael Martino is the steady anchor of the Martino family—calm, practical, and quietly proud of his daughter, Anjelica. He’s the guy who remembers birthdays, fixes what’s broken, and keeps everyone laughing with a perfectly timed story.

Carrie has a calm, steady presence—she’s never been one to raise her voice. A masterful salesperson, she knows how to connect with people and close a deal better than anyone around. Carrie’s warmth, poise, and expertise make her an irreplaceable part of Anjelica and Joe's celebration.

Shaylee is the youngest member of the wedding party and Joe and Anjelica’s beloved niece. Born in December 2024 and traveling from Anjelica’s home state, she already fills every room with her bright personality and charm. With a budding imagination and the sweetest, most curious spirit, Shaylee brings smiles wherever she goes and a little extra joy to those around her. She’s sure to sprinkle the aisle with love, laughter, and just a touch of magic on the big day. She is affectionately known as Anjelica’s “little croissant”.

Christina has been one of Anjelica’s constants through every season of life — the kind of friend you can call for anything, anytime. Whether they’re laughing until they cry, bonding over their shared love of hockey, saying yes to spontaneous plans, or getting through life’s tougher moments together, Christina has always been right by Anjelica’s side. Her fun-loving spirit, unwavering loyalty, and “always down for whatever” attitude are just a few of the many reasons Anjelica loves her so much.

AnnaMarie will forever be Anjelica’s very first friend. Though they’re only 21 months apart, the two couldn’t be more different—while somehow still being so similar at the same time.

Growing up, and even to this day, AnnaMarie has always gone to bat for Anjelica, no questions asked. Their bond is one built on loyalty, love, and a lifetime of shared memories. She also gave Anjelica one of her favorite titles—“Aunt”—with the birth of her daughter, Shaylee.

No matter how much time passes, Anjelica will always be AnnaMarie’s “young coconut,” and she feels so lucky to have her sister by her side on this special day.

Anjelica met April for the first time at Party Island on Long Beach Island, and they immediately clicked. From that moment on, their friendship has been filled with fun, whether it’s a night out on the town for cocktails and caviar or taking the world’s silliest pictures. April is the person Anjelica turns to for unfiltered honesty...always saying exactly what needs to be said. And while April may not be in the NYC area (right now), Anjelica is still working on that.

Veronica and Anjelica have been friends since high school, where they met in creative writing class—Anjelica somehow managed to get a 120%. Veronica is one of the few people from that time in Anjelica’s life who has remained by her side, which says so much about how special Veronica is.

Veronica will forever be the girl with the biggest sock bun Anjelica’s ever seen (thankfully retired), and the one person she can tell absolutely anything to.

Anjelica met Zoe at the dog park when Azrah was just a baby.  Their first interaction was definitely memorable, with Azrah stealing Zoe’s keys & running laps around the park. Luckily, that didn’t scare Zoe off, and somehow it turned into the start of something really special. Anjelica is especially proud of her friendship with Zoe because she found her all on her own & it’s one that quickly grew into something meaningful.

Anjelica met Jood, many years ago, and the two quickly bonded over their shared love for the finer things in life, whether it’s hard-to-get reservations or the bougiest cocktails. Jood has always been there for Anjelica, especially in those moments when she can’t stop overthinking and Joe is busy. As a doctor, she’s also the go-to for any ailment, offering both reassurance and knowledge whenever it’s needed. Her steady presence, great taste, and unwavering friendship have meant so much over the years.

Ashley is Anjelica's fellow Italian and favorite wine companion. The two have shared countless laughs, celebrations, and girls' nights over the years. Ashley is the kind of person who always goes out of her way for the people she loves, making her one of the most thoughtful and dependable friends anyone could ask for. Whenever Anjelica is looking for a night on the town or a fun girls' night, Ashley is always the first person she calls because she's always ready for a good time. Anjelica was honored to stand by Ashley's side on her wedding day and is so grateful to have her standing by hers now.

Jordan is an all-star corporate event planner who somehow manages to be everywhere at once, constantly traveling for work and making every event she touches unforgettable. Anjelica swears they must have met in a past life, because from the moment they connected, they instantly clicked and have been close friends ever since. Jordan has always been one of Anjelica’s biggest cheerleaders — the kind of friend who shows up full force with support, encouragement, and excitement for every chapter of life. She’s also responsible for some of Anjelica’s most memorable adventures, from Yankee Stadium suites to exclusive LL Bean parties and so many fun moments in between.

Peter’s someone with a wide range of interests, from collecting things like cars and antiques, to spending time out fishing in the Florida Keys. Whether he’s enjoying a quiet day on his boat or relaxing with a good cigar, Peter truly savors time spent doing things he loves.

Ann’s someone who brings a lot of passion to everything she does, whether that’s spending time in her garden, riding her horses Darby and Gideon, or relaxing at the beach—something she has in common with Joe and Anjelica. She also knows how to enjoy the little things, especially a good French martini.

If you want to spend a day like we do, head over to Surf City and make your way onto the beach. There’s nothing quite like a beach day in LBI...sun, sand, and some of the best water you’ll find. Whether you’re diving into the ocean or enjoying the calmer, scenic bay waters, LBI truly offers the best of both worlds. The ocean is refreshing and perfect for a swim, while the bay is ideal for relaxing, floating, or catching a peaceful sunset. Joe will be the first to tell you this is where he truly grew up—not Morristown. It’s where his best memories were made and where he’s always felt most at home.

With sweeping waterfront views, salty breezes, and music often floating through the air, it’s the kind of place where summer memories are made and good times seem to last just a little longer. Known for its lively atmosphere, fresh coastal fare (Joe loves their clam pie with chili oil!!), and unforgettable sunsets over the bay, Bird &amp; Betty’s perfectly captures the spirit of LBI. A true Long Beach Island favorite, Terrace Tavern is the kind of place that feels like home the moment you enter. With its laid-back atmosphere, friendly faces, and classic coastal charm, it’s a spot where stories are shared, laughter comes easily, and every visit turns into a lasting memory. Known for its fresh seafood and local flavor, Terrace Tavern holds a special place in our hearts—especially for Anjelica, who can never resist their crab (she swears it's the best on the island!!). AND, they almost always have live music.

With its relaxed coastal atmosphere, and welcoming energy, it’s the kind of spot that instantly feels special—no matter how many times we visit. It wouldn’t be a trip without ordering the garlic clams, our go-to favorite that somehow tastes just as perfect every single time. And whenever friends or family come to visit, this is the first place we bring them—because if you want to experience LBI the way we love it, this is where it starts.

**no reservation needed** Perched above the island with sweeping bay views, The Rooftop Bar at Hotel LBI is one of our favorite spots to unwind at the end of the day. There’s something special about heading up just before sunset, drink in hand, as the sky turns shades of gold, pink, and deep blue over the water.With great cocktails, a laid-back coastal vibe, and some of the best sunset views on LBI, it’s the perfect place to slow down and soak it all in.

**no reservation needed** A place rooted in family tradition, Lenny &amp; John’s Subs has its roots in classic North Jersey deli culture, going back to the early 1970s. The original shop was opened in 1971 in Bloomfield, built on a simple idea: fresh bread delivered daily, high-quality meats, and generously made subs that quickly became a true neighborhood staple. Over time, the deli built a loyal following, especially for its signature favorites like the tuna sub, made from a house recipe that’s prepared fresh and often sells out. It was Anjelica’s dad’s favorite deli growing up! Now, with their newest location on LBI, it feels like those memories have come full circle. What started as a childhood favorite has become part of our story, too...a place where past and present meet over a great sandwich. For us, it’s more than just a deli. It’s a reminder of where we come from, the traditions we carry forward, and how the places we love have a way of finding us again.

**no reservation needed** A true LBI favorite, The Boatyard is where laid-back island days turn into some of our best memories. Sitting right on the bay, it’s the kind of place where you can pull up by boat, step right into the fun, and instantly feel part of the energy of the island. You can drive too—there is a parking lot! We’re especially fond of their signature blue vodka lemonade (Anjelica's favorite) &amp; rum punch (Joe's favorite)—bright and refreshing island drinks that have become a staple for anyone visiting on a summer day. More than a few of our visits (and celebrations) have started with that drink in hand, live music in the background, and the water right beside us. It’s also become a bit of a tradition for Anjelica and Joe to roll up by boat, tying up just steps away from the bar as the afternoon turns into sunset.

With its great outdoor space (that's adorable!!), it’s the ideal spot to soak up warm evenings, ocean breezes, and that unmistakable laid-back LBI vibe. With live music setting the tone and a lineup of refreshing summer cocktails, you can settle in and let the night unfold. Whether it’s a casual drink, good conversation, or just enjoying the atmosphere, Black Eyed Susans always delivers a memorable night.

lunch: no reservation needed; dinner: reservation recommended** A go-to spot for great seafood without any fuss, Ship Bottom Shellfish is one of Joe’s favorite places on LBI when he’s craving something fresh and simple. With a more casual, laid-back vibe, the focus is exactly where it should be—on really good food. They’re always offering great specials, so there’s usually something new to try, but one thing never changes for us: the tuna nachos. It’s our must-order every time and one of those dishes we can’t stop talking about. As a BYOB spot, it’s perfect for a relaxed night out—grab your favorite bottle, settle in, and enjoy some of the best seafood on the island.

**no reservation needed!!** A standout spot on the island, Triton Craft Beer &amp; Oyster Bar is a must for anyone who loves great seafood. Known for its variety of fresh oysters and “happy hour oyster &amp; clam” specials, it keeps things fun, social, and full of flavor. And if you know Anjelica, you know her death row meal would absolutely be oysters (&amp; caviar!!)—so it’s no surprise this is one of our go-to spots. With so many different options, there’s always something new to try (and usually more than a few rounds ordered).

Triton Craft Beer and Oyster Bar

**no reservation needed** If you’re heading through Beach Haven, Polly’s Dock is one of our absolute favorite stops along the way. It’s the perfect casual spot to grab lunch or an early dinner, especially after a day at the beach. We’re big fans of their clams! It’s easy, relaxed, and right on the way, making it a great go-to whether you’re just arriving or heading out for the day. Plus, it’s BYOB, which makes it even better to sit back, unwind, and enjoy a great meal by the water. If you time it right, it’s also a beautiful spot to catch the sunset.

Polly’s Dock and Clamhouse

One of our favorite spots to go for breakfast is Blue Water Cafe. It’s a cozy, laid-back restaurant ideal for a relaxed brunch before the beach or a casual meal with family and friends. Anjelica is a huge fan of their crab Benedict and seafood omelet, while Joe always goes for the crab cake wrap. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want when you’re by the shore.

If you find yourself up in Barnegat Light, Poppy's Ice Cream Parlour is a must-stop for a sweet treat. Just a short walk from the iconic Barnegat Lighthouse, it’s the perfect place to grab ice cream after exploring the area or taking in the views. This charming, old-school ice cream spot is known for its wide variety of flavors—from classic favorites to fun, creative options—all served in a laid-back, beachy setting. Grab a cone, stroll around, and soak in that perfect LBI summer feeling.

At the northern tip of Long Beach Island (LBI as people in NJ refer to it) stands the iconic Barnegat Lighthouse—affectionately known as “Old Barney.” First lit in 1859, this historic lighthouse has guided sailors safely through the shifting tides and hidden shoals of Barnegat Inlet for over a century. Rising 172 feet above the shoreline, the lighthouse offers sweeping views of the ocean, the bay, and the quiet charm of LBI—a place where time seems to slow and every sunset feels a little more meaningful.For generations, “Old Barney” has stood as a symbol of guidance, strength, and enduring light. What once helped travelers find their way home now serves as a beautiful reminder of the journey we begin together. Surrounded by coastal breezes, golden light, and the timeless rhythm of the sea, this special place captures everything we love about Long Beach Island—and everything we hope to carry into our future.

Barnegat Lighthouse

The "Easter Egg Houses" on Long Beach Island, NJ, are a popular nickname for a row of brightly colored, pastel-colored homes located on the bay side. These picturesque houses, often referred to together as "Rainbow Row" or the "Easter Egg Houses," are a favorite spot for photos due to their distinctive, vibrant colors. Check out the houses then head on over to Ship Bottom Brewery or check out Bay Village!
